I've always thought it was normal, but I've been playing piano self-taught for three years and I'm already learning (and doing quite well at) playing songs such as Fantasie Impromptu and Chopin's Etude Op.10 No.12. I have been playing the piano for about 8 years. I love it! I finished 7 grades and I can play by notes well. I just have a somewhat heard time with rhythm and with accompanying a melody or someone singing. I usually end up playing the same type of accompaniment and it’s too boring.
